The plane remains the safest means of transport in the world. Indeed, traveling by plane is a safe, fast and efficient way to reach your destination. And the numbers prove it! Only one accident for 7,360,000 flights. Namely, road accidents are multiplied by 2000 times. Everything is meticulously checked, from the construction of the aircraft to the airline checks before and during the trip. Yet, against all odds, there is always an exception that proves the rule. We remember the drama of Saudi Arabian flight 163. We remind you of this incredible and tragic story…

The plane had indeed taken off when a fire started. He and the crew members had no choice but to turn back at Riyadh airport, the point of departure. Like the takeoff, the landing went well. But, the pilot at the controls of the plane made a surprising decision…

As a reminder, the incident is the second tragedy in the entire history of aviation with a single aircraft. The first tragedy concerned Turkish Airlines flight 981. In addition, it was the third air accident that caused the most deaths. The first two deadliest disasters were those that occurred at Tenerife airport in 1977 and therefore also Turkish Airlines flight 981. To return to Saudia Arabian aircraft 163, only seven minutes after takeoff, a smoke alarm goes off…

The plane continues to taxi for six minutes
For four minutes, the pilots and the personnel of the plane sought to verify the alarm. But, in parallel, the fire in the C3 cargo hold grows and even reaches the controls of engine 2. Therefore, the commander in charge of passengers has no choice but to announce an emergency and request a return in Riyadh. The airplane pilot cut engine 2. The Tristar managed to land safely and left the runway to go into the taxiway. Help was waiting for them and was stationed 400 meters away.
Bukavu airport, the plane misses its landing and thank God no fatalities.
A question, this airport reputed among the least safe in the country does not even have a fire truck despite the Tax GoPass? pic.twitter.com/RrwTsstNGE— Benjamin Umba (@benjimk) February 14, 2022
But, without knowing why, the captain gives the order to his teams not to get people out of the plane. Rather than emergency braking, the aircraft continued to taxi down the airstrip. The aircraft still stopped six minutes later. Alas, when help arrived inside the plane to help the passages, everything had caught fire. No one survived.

An unknown cause of fire, an incomprehensible pilot’s decision
According to information from experts, the reason for this drama is the surprising decision of the airplane pilot. Even today, no one knows why he had this reaction. Indeed, because of the captain, 287 passengers and 14 crew members died on board this aircraft.
Unfortunately, despite investigations, specialists still do not understand what could have caused this fire. There is still a hypothesis about the embarkation of two butane canisters that were almost empty…

▫️Several fire trucks are on site. The fire would affect an aircraft parking space located next to the airport terminal.
