Before one or the other scandal at the jungle camp campfire could even start, there was already the first bad news: One of the twelve stars was infected with the corona virus, so that his participation in the successful RTL show is now unclear.

This is reality star Gigi Birofio, who wants to fight for the crown alongside Lucas Cordalis, Claudia Effenberg, Jolina Mennen and Papis Loveday.

On the official Instagram account of I’m a star – get me out of here!” It said: “Can Gigi Birofio move into the jungle camp? Unfortunately, this is still unclear at the moment. The corona virus was detected in his first PCR test in Australia. A negative PCR test, which must not be older than 48 hours, was a prerequisite for entry into the country for production. “Bild” has now published what precautions the broadcaster is said to have taken for this.

Why Gigi can later move to the jungle camp

As the newspaper reported, Gigi now has five days to recover in time for the start of the show. It should also be tested daily. An alternative plan is said to be under discussion. Accordingly, the candidate could also move to the jungle camp later than January 13th. It is important that the 23-year-old hand over his cell phone in any case, so that he does not notice anything about what is happening on the show.

He is also not allowed to watch TV or surf the Internet. At the request of “Bild”, a spokeswoman for RTL said: “Everything is possible and will be decided at a later date depending on the situation.” It could also be particularly bitter for Gigi if he had to forego part of his fee.

According to “Bild” information, he gets this in four installments. He will receive the first two when the contract is signed and when production begins. This would mean around 40 percent would be lost. His fee should be between 30,000 and 50,000 euros.

Who could replace the candidate

A replacement has already been taken care of, because reality starlet Melody Haase is said to be in Australia and could stand in for the sick candidate. Djamila Rowe is also said to be on her way Down Under. But the broadcaster didn’t want to say anything about that.

In any case, Gigi is doing well so far. He is currently in self-isolation and receiving medical attention. The trash TV star told RTL about his predicament: “I’m just Corona positive, I’m actually doing great, but the test was now positive. Too bad, I was really happy. How bad luck can you have? Anyway, I’m positive.” He also emphasized that he had no symptoms.
