Nessbeal returns this Friday with a new project called “Zonard des étoiles”. For the occasion, the rapper collaborated with ZKR, Zed, PLK, Landy or even Orelsan.
The past decade has been a long one for fans of nessbeal but 2022 marks the great return of the one nicknamed the “Uncrowned King”. This Friday, the rapper makes his comeback in French rap, with a new album entitled Zonard of the stars.
Long of fourteen titles, the highly anticipated disc includes featurings with PLK, ZKR, Landy, Zed and Orelsan. For this dazzling return with Zonard of the starsNessbeal wanted to mark the occasion by surrounding himself with a great guest list among which – in addition to ZKR – Landy, Zed, PLK and Orelsan.
“Orelsan, he is always the same”
In the past, Nessbeal had already worked with the rapper from Caen on the track My big (2010). His album NE2S had also been produced by Skread and produced in the Orelsan garage in Caen. In interview for the program Clique, Nessbeal returned to this friendship forged with the Norman artist:
“Orelsan is a person, already humanly, I like him. I like his purity, his prime nature. He’s really not bad. He made me pasta, we ate together… J I like people like that, real people. Look, I saw him again, he wasn’t the same Orel as before, but the guy is still the same, and that’s good”.
With this album, the fifth of his career, will Nessbeal finally find commercial success, after a career made up of ups and downs but also crossings of the desert?
A rocky career
In the mid-1990s, Nessbeal launched into rap with the group Dicidens, which he founded alongside artists Koryas and Zesau. Close to the 92I collective carried in particular by the group Lunatic, Dicidens quickly became an emblematic group of French rap. But, wishing to develop his career, Nessbeal left his collective and went solo.
In 2006, the rapper from 92 released his first album, The Melody of Bricks. If the project is a great success with “purist” fans and followers of underground rap, the enthusiasm is unfortunately not felt in terms of sales. Same observation in 2008 for his second project, uncrowned king.
In 2010, however, Nessbeal achieved its greatest commercial success with its third album NE2Sdriven in particular by the mythical single Each day has enough trouble of its.
On the strength of this renewed interest, the rapper unveils a fourth album a year later. Natural selection. Faced with a lukewarm new reception to the project and a career in decline, Nessbeal announced to his fans in 2011 that he was retiring from music.
Between 2011 and 2021, Nessbeal only appears on a few collaborations, in particular with the singer Isleym or more recently with Jul on the title Don’t get inside my head. During this period, the artist also tries other genres such as cinema. We could see it on the screen in Paradise Beach alongside Seth Gueko, Dosseh and Kool Shen.
But last January, Nessbeal created a surprise by unveiling the single without any announcement. The Demo in duet with Roubaix rapper ZKR, as well as an upcoming project. This fifth studio album was also teased with a second track Eurozone, revealed in early March. “The Uncrowned King” is definitely back.
