Alec Baldwin’s fatal shooting: the victim’s family reacts to his indictment

In October 2021, actor Alec Baldwin had accidentally killed Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer of the film “Rust”, while on set. A terrible drama about which the actor spoke on several occasions, indicating in particular that he had never imagined that the weapon with which he was shooting could contain real bullets. Confident about the investigation around this drama, Alec Baldwin thought that no one would be charged, but justice decided otherwise.

On January 19, we learned that actor Alec Baldwin was going to be charged with manslaughter. This is also the case of Hannah Gutteriez-Reed, the gunsmith of the feature film who had handled the weapon before the incident.

“Under my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice,” the prosecutor said, adding that there was enough evidence to prosecute.

Halyna Hutchins’ family relieved

Shortly after the announcement of these two indictments, the family of Halyna Hutchins welcomed the decision of the prosecutor, affirming that Alec Baldwin had shown a “conscious disregard for human life”. The family also said they supported the accusation. For their part, the lawyers of the two defendants indicated that they would shed light on this story and that the prosecutor’s investigation had been botched.
