As reported by the Variety portal, the comedian wanted to have the Ukrainian president as a guest so that he can tell about the difficult moment his country is going through in the midst of its confrontation with Russia.

“I think there’s a lot of pressure in the sense that on the one hand people want to forget everything for one night, but on the other hand, there are so many eyes and ears on this show.” Schumer told Drew Barrymore on an episode of his talk show.

“I wanted us to find a way to get Zelensky via satellite or recorded video or something. I’m not afraid to go there, but I’m not the one who produces the Oscars.” he added, implying that his idea had not been accepted.

For his part, at a recent conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his request to European countries to “close all ports to Russian ships” and argued that “nobody has the right to destroy the continent”.

It should be noted that the 2022 Oscar Awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, March 27, from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California (United States). The gala can be followed through TNT and TNT Series in Latin America.
