Shannon Curry, a clinical and forensic psychologist, presented a diagnosis on Tuesday, which the actress’ attorneys have sought to discredit that testimony.
A psychologist, hired by Johnny Depp’s lawyers as part of the defamation lawsuit he is bringing against his ex-wife, said on Tuesday that Amber Heard suffered from personality disorders. At the helm, Shannon Curry, clinical and forensic psychologist, presented this diagnosis, which she made after having evaluated, in December 2021, the 36-year-old actress over a period of 12 hours.
She indicated that people with the disorders seen in Amber Heard “can react violently”, adding that they “often have abusive behaviors towards their partners”.
“I report scientific facts”
The actress’ lawyers sought to discredit this testimony, arguing that the psychologist had been hired by the opposing party. “I report scientific facts regardless of what they tell us,” Shannon Curry replied.
The clinician reported that in a test she conducted during her analysis, Amber Heard had “grossly exaggerated” any post-traumatic stress symptoms she may have suffered from as a result of alleged domestic abuse.
During his court testimony last week, Johnny Depp denied ever hitting Amber Heard or any other woman in his life. The star of the series “Pirates of the Caribbean” has several times indicated that Amber Heard was, on the contrary, the one who, in their couple, gave the blows.
The actor claims to have lost “everything”
Married from 2016 to 2018, the former spouses accuse each other of defamation during this trial, very followed and partly broadcast on American news channels. In a column published in 2018 in the washington postAmber Heard did not name Johnny Depp by name, but she did mention the domestic violence charges she had brought against her husband in 2016.
Last week the actor had assured to have “everything” lost because of these accusations of violence. He is claiming $50 million in damages, against which his ex-wife also filed suit demanding $100 million in damages, claiming that Johnny Depp had subjected him to “permanent physical violence and abuse”.
