Anne Hidalgo angry after the agreement between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the PS: “I do not accept this injustice”

In a written statement, relayed on Twitter on May 5, 2022, Anne Hidalgo criticizes the LFI-PS agreement but “don’t want to prevent it”. Moreover, the politician cries out to “unfairness”. The reason: Lamia El Aaraje, outgoing socialist deputy, ordered to withdraw to the 15th district of Paris in favor of the rebellious Danielle Simonnet.

“I do not wish to prevent an electoral agreement which aims to combat ecological and social regression.” In a statement sent to AFP, and relayed on Twitter this Thursday, May 5, Anne Hidalgo gave his point of view on the agreement for the legislative elections between LFI and the PS. According to his words, this agreement is not made with respect for people, nor in the respect of the elected representatives established in the territories”. Anne Hidalgo takes as an example “the young deputy Lamia El Aaraje of the constituency of the 20th arrondissement of Paris, even though she had won it a year ago at the polls”.

The socialist, who intended to run for a second term in the June legislative elections, was forced to withdraw in favor of the rebellious candidate Danielle Simonnet. A direct consequence of the negotiations between La France insoumise and the Socialist Party. Claiming not “accept this injustice that must be repaired”Anne Hidalgo ensures that she “will be by his side”without specifying whether she encourages Lamia El Aaraje to submit a dissenting candidacy.

An agreement that she does not wish to “prevent”

However, if the mayor of Paris judges that the agreement concluded between the two parties “does not carry the necessary guarantees on essential subjects”she does not wish to prevent it. “I hear the aspiration of the people on the left for a rally to oppose social setbacks and to bring ecological and social hope”, explains Anne Hidalgo. And the ex-PS candidate for the presidency to specify: “I hear the aspiration of our youth to another world. I share it. We have a major responsibility”. According to her, “a reconstruction of the left is essential”but, she says, “far from populist temptations”.

Anne Hidalgo singled out by Rachida Dati

Monday, May 2, 2022, Rachida Dati had castigated Anne Hidalgo about a project to raze century-old trees at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, to create commercial buildings there. While the mayor of Paris had finally backtracked, as Hugo Clément had relayed on Twitter, Zohra’s mother had not hesitated to give her point of view. Anne Hidalgo has never kept a promise! Don’t be fooled by Hugo Clément”, she had warned. And to add: “Commercial premises, mobile catering, luggage storage for tourists, removal of 10% of green spaces, destruction of 19th century sculptures, listed gardens, concreting… are maintained. The Champ-de-Mars and the historic site of the Eiffel Tower at Trocadéro deserve to be protected in the long term! The fight must continue!” On good terms…
