The fans were so happy. Finally another celebration after the long Corona years. But then it fell MDR“Star Night at Lake Neusiedl” with presenter Barbara Schoeneberger into the water. And that literally.

The TV station had MDR drove up so festively on Saturday. Andreas Gabalier, Beatrice Egli, Giovanni Zarrella or Maite Kelly. They all accepted the broadcaster’s invitation and wanted to join them Barbara Schoeneberger and co-moderator Alfons Haider celebrate in front of the dreamy backdrop of Lake Neusiedl. But then suddenly the storm came.

Barbara Schöneberger: The broadcast has to be interrupted for security reasons

Already at the beginning of the show you could have guessed that the clouds over Lake Neusiedl in Austria were getting darker and darker. About an hour and a half after the start of the show, the time had come. Suddenly it was raining cats and dogs, and the wind was blowing harder and harder over the arena right on the lake.

That is Barbara Schoeneberger:

  • Barbara Schöneberger was born on March 5, 1974 in Munich
  • Together with Thomas Gottschalk and Günther Jauch, she moderates “Because they don’t know what’s happening – The Jauch-Gottschalk-Schöneberger Show”
  • In addition, Barbara Schöneberger always moderates the preliminary decision for the ESC and the live show from Hamburg
  • She regularly airs her own podcast
  • In the spring of 2022, after Guido Cantz left, she became the new moderator of “Do you understand fun?”

While the audience quickly wrapped themselves in rain capes, the technology didn’t cope so well with the change in weather. “What’s going on here,” Barbara Schöneberger yelled desperately into the microphone, which seemed to drop out again and again.

Barbara Schöneberger: We continued after 30 minutes

And then moderator Alfons Haider announced the sad news. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have to stop for a moment for safety reasons,” said the 64-year-old. So while the crowd quickly stormed into the dry, the MDR showed pictures of the dress rehearsal. After about half an hour, the storm subsided and we could continue live.

“We had to take a short break because of course we didn’t want to jeopardize safety, but now it’s dry again, it’s nice again,” said Schöneberger happily. All’s well that ends well.
