In season three, it’s Lady Whistledown’s turn

Lady Whistledown has just revealed that the third season of the Netflix hit “Bridgerton” will have her as the central character. Fans with an obsession for the couple Colin and Penelope should be even more excited.

The second season of “Bridgerton” has only just broken various Netflix records when planning for the third installment of the novel adaptation begins. Gossip expert Lady Whistledown, aka Penelope Featherington, of all people, has now revealed what will happen next. Her actress Nicola Coughlan has now proudly revealed via her official Instagram account that season three will revolve around her character and her love life.

Captioning a black-and-white photo of herself and her series colleague Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, the 35-year-old wrote: “Like Lady Whistledown, I’ve been keeping a pretty big secret for a while… But I can finally tell you that season three of ‘Bridgerton’ will be the story of Colin and Penelope.”

29-year-old Newton is also excited about the honor of being the focus of Season 3. But he also knows about the dangers: “There is so much sympathy for this relationship and that increases the pressure because there are people who are really excited that this story is now coming into the spotlight.”

It is also clear that the third season will not follow the order of Julia Quinn’s novel. After Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, season one) and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathon Bailey, season two), it is actually all about the second oldest Bridgerton child, Benedict (Luke Thompson).

It is quite possible, however, that he may go on a love search in a later season. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes hinted: “There are eight Bridgerton siblings, so there are eight books. We definitely plan on following each of their love stories,” she told Entertainment Tonight. Just not necessarily in the same order as has now come true.
