Looking forward to Eurovision? The next edition of the beloved European singing contest will be held from May 9 to 13, 2023 in the city of Liverpool. And why there? Due to the war in Ukraine (the winning country of the 2022 edition in Turin, led by the Kalush Orchestra) it was decided to change the venue to the United Kingdom, which achieved second place in the contest thanks to Sam Ryder.
There are still many details to be known about what will be the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, although some very juicy candidates have already been decided, such as Israel, the Netherlands, Albania or Cyprus. In the case of Spain, as in the rest of the countries, we will have to wait for the Benidorm Fest 2023 (which will be held from the end of January to the beginning of February) to meet our representative, who aspires to improve –or at least equalize– the third position achieved by Chanel in 2022. The artist set the bar very high! At least we have already heard the songs from the Benidorm Fest to whet your appetite.
Any more things we know about Eurovision 2023 at the moment? The important changes that the EBU has announced in relation to the voting system. This year only audience votes will decide which countries qualify for the semifinals, but in the grand finale the votes of a professional music industry jury will have much more weight. In addition, for the first time, viewers from non-participating countries will also be able to vote for their favorite songs online.
If you are passionate about Eurovision and are looking forward to its new edition (just like us), keep reading. Here we leave you all the information about all the participating countries and their candidacies. We will update it as we learn about names and proposals in the coming months… So stay tuned so you don’t miss any news.
