Death of British actor Stephen Greif, seen in “The Crown”

British actor Stephen Greif, who appears in the series The Crowndied at the age of 78 on December 23.

The actor of theater and television series Stephen Greif, has just died at the age of 78, on December 23, according to information communicated by his agent.

Seen recently in the 4th season of The Crownas the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Stephen Greif left his mark on British audiences as Commander Travis, in the 1970s science fiction series, Blake’s 7. A villainous character, wearing a disturbing black patch over one eye.

From Pompeii to “Coronation Street”

Coming from the theater and member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stephen Greif has mainly played roles on the small screen, in numerous series and television films.

The film by David Mamet, Spartan in 2004, with Val Kilmer, or the casanova by Lasse Hallström in 2005, alongside Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller are some of his rare forays into the cinema.

During his career, which began in the late 1960s, he appeared in the cult series across the Channel, Coronation Street.

It has also been seen in the spy series Professionalsbroadcast on TF1 in 1989, in the American series For the love of riskor in the mini-series The last days of Pompeii and Ellis Island, the gates of hopein 1984.

Shakespeare and Warhammer

The actor has also lent his beautiful deep voice to several video game characters, in Total War: Warhammer III (2022), Shadows: Awakening (2018), Risen 2: Dark Waters (2012), Memento Mori (2008), Medieval: Total War (2002).

A familiar face on the British small screen, Stephen Greif has starred in many series that didn’t cross the channel, such as the sitcom Citizen Smith, boon, Rumpole of the BaileyWhere Young, gifted and broke.
