Depressive episode at Sophia Thiel: fitness influencer falls back into old patterns

Perfect appearance, well-trained body and iron discipline: Sophia Thiel conveyed this image of herself to the outside world for a long time. But internally she was not doing well, she was struggling with psychological problems and eating habits. A two-year break later, the fitness influencer was purified – and still fell back into old patterns.

Sophia Thiel reveals: “I’m having a difficult phase”

In her Instagram story, Sophia Thiel explains what is currently troubling her and presents himself from a vulnerable side. “Perhaps one or the other has noticed that I post more sporadically,” she says in the clip. “That’s because I’m going through a very difficult phase at the moment.” A few weeks ago, the 27-year-old had to say goodbye to her longtime friend Verena Sam, who died after cancer.

“I want to be transparent and honest with you,” explains Sophia Thiel to her fans. “I have a few days where things are going great. Then there are days where things aren’t going well at all.” She also speaks of “extreme mood swings” and a return to “old, dysfunctional behavior”. This also affects their eating habits.

Relapse into old behavior: Sophia Thiel seeks help from a therapist

But instead of literally eating away at their grief and problems, Sophia Thiel learned from her past mistakes and sought help in good time. “I just got out of my therapist and I’m feeling a little better.” She doesn’t expect any sympathy from her followers, as she emphasizes. “The whole thing shouldn’t be a whining story, I don’t want to justify anything. I just want to let you know that there aren’t just good experiences. […] It’s a bit much for me right now.”

The fitness influencer now wants to “stabilize” before she throws herself back into her work. Even if she is catching up with her past behavior, Sophia Thiel seems to be able to deal with the pressure much better today than a few years ago. Instead of putting her focus on a tough workout and a hardened body, her mental health is now much more important. In early March, she even gave an honest glimpse of how her body has changed, sharing a before and after photo.
