Dieter Bohlen back at “DSDS”
“I didn’t watch a second of the last season”
For the very last season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” Dieter Bohlen returns to the jury desk. The pop titan told how good the break at home was actually for him. A taste of retirement?
Dieter Bohlen (68) does not miss the farewell season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” for any money in the world. The pop titan returns for the last time “DSDS” in front of the TV camera, albeit for a lower fee.
Then it’s over and over for the cult casting show. RTL presenter Frauke Ludowig (58) visited the modern-talking star for an interview in Mallorca.
RTL threw Bohlen out of the show last year after almost 20 years, then appointed Florian Silbereisen (40) as chief judge for the 19th season. Bohlen’s cheeky sayings would no longer have matched the image of the TV station. Now the pop titan is more emotional than ever: “I didn’t look for a second, it just hurts.”
Does Dieter Bohlen already want to retire?
During the TV break, the pop titan was self-critical. “I didn’t always understand that I came across as so hard.” The pop titan may want to work on his appearance for his comeback. “I’ll bend zero, but I really don’t want to be that hard.”
Sitting at home during the past season was actually quite nice for Dieter Bohlen, as he reports. “It was a bit of a recharge for me,” admits the veteran of the “DSDS” jury. Since 2002, he has been the only jury member not to miss a single season. “All of a sudden, that pressure was gone. Always looking at the ratings on Sunday mornings, that’s a burden.” Now he sees everything a little more relaxed.
“She said think it over well”
Bohlen’s longtime friend Carina Walz (38) didn’t even seem that enthusiastic about her lover’s “DSDS” comeback. She thought it was good that her children’s father was at home and advised him to think twice about returning to his casting show. The love with Walz has lasted for 16 years, longer than any before. He deserved that too, as many “mistakes” as he had.
Nevertheless, the singer (“Cheri, Cheri Lady”) decided to make a TV comeback on RTL. “It was a pure decision of the heart,” as Bohlen explains. There were probably people who would have offered the pop titan a lot more money. However, Dieter Bohlen seems to be hanging on the television station and is looking forward to further cooperation. “I wanted to be on my team, I want these people.” (sod)
