‘Doctor Strange’ actress Zara Phythian has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing a teenage girl. Her husband received an even longer prison sentence.
Stuntwoman and actress Zara Phythian was sentenced to eight years in prison this Monday. The competent court Nottingham Crown Court handed down the sentence after it was found that Phythian and her 59-year-old husband Victor Marke had repeatedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl. This is reported by the British broadcaster BBC.
Among other things, Phytian worked in the Marvel blockbuster “Doctor Strange” alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Mads Mikkelsen, and is particularly well known for this. The crimes for which the 37-year-old has now been convicted took place between 2005 and 2008, when the victim, who is now an adult, was between 13 and 15 years old. Phythian’s husband was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He also abused a 15-year-old girl without his wife’s help. In addition, according to the judge, he was the driving force behind the crimes.
Abnormal behavior shaped by husband’s influence
The BBC quoted the judge as saying: “In the light of the evidence I have heard I have no doubt that your abnormal behavior was shaped by the influence he [Victor Marke, Anm. d. Red.] had on you since a young age.” Phythian is 22 years younger than her husband – at the time of the first act together she was only 20 years old. Both rejected the allegations to the end.
