Dominican sports journalist Omar Guzmán is nominated for the New England Emmy

Dominican journalist Omar Guzmán, host and producer of the program “Virus Deportivo”, celebrates his first nomination for the New England Emmy Awards, a division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, in the One-Time-Special category (Sports Special of a delivery).

The nomination for the award was achieved with the production MLB All-Star Game 2021 @ Virus Deportivo Special Edition, which includes interviews with Major League stars, including José Ramírez, Nelson Cruz, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, Rafael Devers, and popular artists like El Alfa “El Jefe”.

“Although for many it is just a nomination, for me it is more than that. This is the recognition of perseverance, proof that good work can be done, regardless of your resources, as long as we prepare, document ourselves and put in the effort. The truth is that I am not worried about what happens on June 4 in Boston, I prefer to enjoy this moment with my loved ones who have always been by my side. Since when Virus Deportivo was just a project, I think that God and life have been tremendously generous to me,” said an emotional Omar Guzmán.

In the evaluation and nomination process for these awards, more than a thousand audiovisual projects were presented, from editors, cameramen, reporters, news presenters, documentaries, among other communication specialties.

“Virus Deportivo” is a mixture of daily information capsules and a specialized weekly magazine that handles and exposes different topics from the always exciting world of sports. This television program by the prominent Dominican journalist presents exclusive interviews with the main sports figures, especially the most renowned Dominican baseball players.

Virus Deportivo was born in the Dominican Republic, in August 2003, broadcast on different channels such as Tele Globo (Channel 19), Channel 6, Antena Latina and VegaTeve.

In 2013 Virus Deportivo debuted in the United States, in 2014 on Dominican Television, in 2018 the sports space increased its coverage in the USA by joining TV Quisqueya. The 45th Boston/New England Emmy Awards will take place on Saturday, June 4 at the Wang Theater in Boston, Massachusetts.
