Last summer, many Schlager fans had to be strong: because the “King of Mallorca”, Jürgen Drews, ended his career for health reasons. After 55 years in the music industry, it was a difficult step. But due to his nervous illness polyneuropathy, he can no longer stand on stage.
One who knows him well and who has a long and now close friendship with Drews is moderator and singer Florian Silbereisen. He even dedicates his own farewell gala to his Schlager colleague, which ARD will broadcast on January 14th.

In an interview with the newspaper “Express”, Silbereisen now revealed:
“Jürgen and I have gotten to know each other very well in recent years. I appreciate him very much and if Jürgen needs me, I’ll be there.”
Florian Silbereisen is known for his empathetic nature, but not for playing politically. Now he has expressed himself unusually clearly on a topic that is particularly close to his heart.
Florian Silbereisen has a big wish for the new year
Jürgen Drews is always in a good mood on stage and is friendly. But Silbereisen also knows his friend away from the cameras and the audience: “Jürgen is a very sensitive and profound person. He can have a really big party both on and behind the stage, as well as a quiet, intensive conversation about life, politics, the environment and getting older.” And praises Drew’s style: “He’s just a fine guy”.
Florian Silbereisen was on the road with Drews for several weeks in 2022 for “Das Große Schlagerfest XXL”. It was there that he saw how badly Drews affected his nervous condition: “The daily long drives are sometimes exhausting and there were days when Jürgen was just tired, exhausted and broken.”
At the farewell gala, Jürgen Drews will be on stage one last time at Silbereisen and will sing his hits again. But not only this farewell show moves Florian Silbereisen in the new year. He still has one important wish:
“It sounds so trite, but I wish this madness would stop in Ukraine.”
“I wish that we would all talk to each other more again, not let ourselves be divided. I wish that we would use our minds and walk through the world with open eyes and ears, pay attention to each other a bit and not just completely see black or all white.”
2022 was a very successful year for Beatrice Egli – she was a guest on various TV shows and launched a new single with “Volles risk”. In autumn 2023 she will be on tour again, which will take her to eight German cities.
