“He came home drunk”: the confidences of Line Renaud on his relationship with his father

The relationship between Line Renaud and her father Edmond Enté is not the most serene. Moreover, the French singer and actress rarely talks about it. But in the book what livespublished by Buchet-Chastel this Thursday, May 5, Line Renaud still made some confidences about her relationship with him. “I don’t talk about it much because as I progressed in life, I realized that he had not been a good father”she revealed. “He wasn’t there. And the little that he was there, he came home drunk every Friday”she added.

In March 2022, in the show The Thousand and One Life of Line Renaudthe singer had also confessed to having attempted a rapprochement with her father in 1955. But unfortunately it did not go very well. “I went to pick him up at the Gare du Nord. I drive him to Place de l’Etoile. He was magnificently received by Loulou, but it was too much for him. For a moment, he takes me aside, with his suitcase (…) and he said to me: ‘Take me back to the Gare du Nord’ and there I cried. That was how it was supposed to be, that’s a failure”she confided on France 3.

But it was not the first time that Line Renaud said of Edmond Enté that he is not “a good father”. The singer had already said it in September 2018 on the show One day, one destiny. “I don’t talk too much about my father because… I think he was not a good father. In my early childhood, until I was ten years old, let’s say I have memories of a cool father, playing the piston or the trumpet in the marching band. He had to find a joke a day for the settlement.”

Without hearing from him for a long time, she actually learned that he was leading a double life. Line Renaud discovered it at the age of 12 on returning from school. “I am told that my father always had a double life. And that the little boy I played with was my half-brother”, she says.
