On the occasion of the cinema release of the film “Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire”, the actors who participated in the filming are increasing their public appearances.
On January 29, the cast of the feature film “Asterix and Obelix: the Middle Empire” was invited by Laurent Delahousse on France 2 for the program “8:30 p.m. on Sunday”. For a few minutes, Marion Cotillard wanted to salute the directorial talents of Guillaume Canet. For the return to the screen of the irreducible Gauls, the latter is both in front of and behind the camera. “He encountered many obstacles and pitfalls. As José Garcia said, he has this ability to fall back on his feet, to reinvent something when he does not have the possibility of doing what he wanted to do, ”said the interpreter of Cleopatra. Remember that the filming of this large French production began in April 2021, and was notably disrupted by the Covid-19 crisis.

Louise and Marcel’s mother also added: “He impressed me a lot on this film. […] This is also what always defines his work: it is the love of the human, the love of the characters and to bring out the humanity of each character in any genre. Whether it’s drama or comedy, that’s what interests him and he does it brilliantly. » The actress had already praised the talents of the father of her children in the columns of “Madame Figaro”, on January 19.
“There was a casting of directors”
To carry out such a project, Guillaume Canet had to pass what is similar to a selection. In the program “Beau Geste”, with Pierre Lescure, the actor explains: “You had to have won a César, to have made more than two million admissions, I believe, or three million admissions, to have made a film in english language […] and there, there was a cast of directors. According to him, his vision of the script was the right one. “The fact of absolutely wanting to put Asterix and Obelix back at the heart of the story, that they really be the main characters of the film”, allowed him to be the director of the film.
