US actor and “The Godfather” star James Caan has died at the age of 82. Numerous colleagues, especially his co-stars from the legendary mafia epic, are now expressing their grief and condoling to the family.
Oscar winner Al Pacino (82) said in a statement obtained by People magazine: “Jimmy was my fictional brother and my lifelong friend. It’s hard to believe that he won’t be around anymore because he’s like this was alive and bold.” Caan was a “great actor, a brilliant director” and his “dear friend”: “I loved him and will miss him.

Robert De Niro (78) also spoke up. He was very sad since he heard about the death of his colleague. The “The Godfather” director Francis Ford Coppola (83) has already commented on Caan’s death. His former protégé is “someone who has been in my life longer and more closely than any other film character I have ever known”. On the official Twitter account Meanwhile, the family confirmed the death of James Caan. “It is with great sadness that we inform you that Jimmy passed away on the evening of July 6th,” it says, among other things. The family did not disclose a cause of death.
