Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez (52) can look forward to another award. The radio network iHeart honored the 52-year-old with the Icon Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Tuesday evening. In an emotional speech, Lopez thanked her fans. “I appreciate it all very much. I wish I could say that awards are the most important thing for me, but that’s not true. (…) That’s not why I do what I do. Me do it for you.”
Lopez continued: “Because of you, I’m allowed to do what I love. It’s a great blessing.” She thanks “everyone who comes to a show, streams a song, watches a movie, follows me. You made it possible for me to live a life that I could not have dreamed of as a young girl in the Bronx,” explained the singer to thunderous applause, which forced her to interrupt her speech several times.
“I’m just getting started”
Her partner Ben Affleck (49) and his ten-year-old son Samuel and Lopez’s daughter Emme (14) also cheered on the singer in the audience. “Let me tell you something else,” Lopez concluded her speech. “I’m just getting started.”
Following her emotional acceptance speech, Jennifer Lopez performed a medley of her greatest hits. The singer was surrounded on stage by drag queens, who flaunted her biggest looks in years – from the iconic green Versace look at the Grammys in 2000 to her outfit from the music video for Jenny From The Block.
