american actor Jeremy Renner posted a video on Twitter on Thursday of “a spa day” at the hospital as he recovered from a traumatic injury when he was struck by a heavy snowplow.
“A ‘not so good’ day in the Intensive Care Unit turned into an amazing spa day with my sister and mom. Many thanks”the actor pointed out in the comment included in the video publication.
In the footage Renner is heard telling that it was his first shower “in a week or so” while receiving a head massage, which according to her sister’s words, was still stained with blood from the accident.
Authorities investigating the incident said Renner was hit by a car on New Year’s Day near his home in Nevada, USA, for a snowplow that started rolling by itself after he used it to recover a family member’s car stuck in a pile of snow.
The actor was using a PistenBully, or snowcat, a tracked-traction vehicle the size of a truck.
Renner’s manager reported that the actor was in critical but stable condition after that accident, where he “suffered a blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries”.
According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, an investigation was underway into Renner’s “serious injuries,” including checks for any signs of mechanical failure. At a news conference Tuesday, investigators said there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident, which was being treated as a “tragic accident”.
Renner, 51, was nominated for a best actor Oscar for his work in the 2008 film The Hurt Locker, which won the Oscar for best picture. And he received a supporting actor nomination for his work in The Town of 2010.
