After learning details of the accident he suffered near his residence in Nevada, United States, Jeremy Renner posted a photograph of himself on Instagram showing the injuries on his face. “Thank you all so much for his kind words. I’m too indisposed right now to write, but I’m sending love to you all.” On the social network, Chris Evans, Penelope Cruz, among other Hollywood stars sent messages and Chris Pratt asked for “prayers” for his recovery.
The actor is in ICU recovering from injuries caused by a snowplow vehicle. “Jeremy is making positive progress and is awake, talking and in a good mood,” his publicist Samantha Mast said in a statement. “He remains in the ICU in critical but stable condition. He is overwhelmed by the show of love and support. The family asks for his continued thoughts as he heals with his closest loved ones.”
Renner has undergone two surgeries after sustaining injuries to his legs. For CNN, a spokesperson for the actor reported that he suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.” At the press conference given by Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, he called the incident a “tragic accident.”
As he explained, the actor was driving his Pistenbully vehicle to clear the road and freed a stuck car. According to AFP, he was “hit by his own snowplow when he was trying to get into the driver’s seat of the gigantic six-ton vehicle.”
Balaam maintains that Renner “was being a good neighbor and shoveling snow off those roads,” he explained. “After successfully towing his personal vehicle from where he had become stuck, Mr. Renner got out of his (tractor) to speak with his family member. The Pistenbully started to move, in an effort to stop it Renner tried to climb back into the driver’s seat. At that moment he was run over ”.
The sheriff added that the tractor was impounded and is being examined “for any mechanical errors and to find out why it started running.” On her side, the mayor of Reno, Hillary Schieve, spoke with the local media. “She was helping someone stuck in the snow,” the SanDiego Union Tribune reported.
“The mayor said that she and the actor are friends and that they informed her about the accident shortly after it happened nearby.” Schieve added that the actor is “always helping others.”
Balaam explained that it took rescuers more than 30 minutes to cross “several kilometers of snowy roads to get to where Renner was.” He said that the Marvel star who plays Hawkeye or Hawkeye, was declared an honorary adviser and had done a lot of work for the community, such as his participation in the ‘Shop with the Sheriff’ program that raises money for Christmas gifts for the county children.
“He has been very generous. With its popularity among boys by Marvel it packs a punch. Those kids that he touched during ‘Shop with the Sheriff,’ I can assure you, they will never forget that moment.”
