Johnny Ventura receives musical tribute from his son Jandy and many colleagues on a legacy album


Before his death, Johnny Ventura planned to re-record most of his hits with his son Jandy. Josefina Flores, widow of the unforgettable merenguero, witnessed those plans between father and son, which the surprising death almost a year ago prevented from materializing as they were initially calculated.

However, Jandy decided to continue the project and, together with a group of musicians, merengue players and friends, was able to put together a series of compilation volumes of the iconic merengues of Johnny, who had a career of more than 65 years and more, to honor his father’s memory. of 100 recorded discs.

This project, which encompasses the recording of a variety of record productions, the first “El Legado del Caballo vol. 1”, where national and international artists perform Ventura’s songs.

In addition, the presentation of the show “El Legado del Caballo” is added, which will have its first installment on November 25 at the Virgilio Travieso Soto Sports Palace and on the 26 at the Gran Arena del Cibao.

During the launch of this first volume, Jandy announced that the filming of the life of the merenguero and asea is planned for TV or cinema, information of which he will offer more details in the future.

For the occasion Jandy was accompanied by his entire family, his mother Josefina, his brothers Juan de Dios and Ana Yahaira, wife Yamel Ventura, friends and other relatives.

Visibly emotional, he regained his strength to talk naturally about this album. Very grateful for the support, which shows the affection that his admirable father earned during his lifetime.

“The Legacy of the Horse vol. 1”, produced by Jandy Ventura, Henry Jiménez, Antonio González and Julio César Félix, is made up of 14 songs, which were selected by each invited artist.

Gilberto Santa Rosa, Milly Quezada, José Alberto El Canario, Manny Cruz, Sergio Vargas, Héctor Acosta, Néstor Torres, Willy García, Alex Bueno, Miriam Cruz, Eddy Herrera, Roberto del Castillo, Alex Matos and Rubby Pérez are the artists who recorded this first album.

“I am the meringue”, “The handle”, “Merenguero to the drum”, “The horses arrived”, “The charcoal burner”, “Agony”, “Dilemma”, “The Indian women from Baní”, “When you are close de mí”, “Get me that”, “El chisme”, “La Verdad” and “Tititá”, are the songs that were recorded in this first volume and that are now available on all digital platforms.

“Yo Soy El Merengue” was the first promotional song where, thanks to technology, it was possible to insert the voice of Johnny Ventura in this musical collaboration with his son.

Within this Vol. 1 are “I am the merengue”, “La agarradera”, “Merenguero to the tambora”, “The horses arrived”, “El carbonero”, “Agonía”, “Dilema”, “Las indias de Baní”, “When you are close to me”, “Get me that”, “El gossip”, “The truth” and “Tititá”.

“Yo Soy El Merengue” was the first promotional theme where, thanks to technology, it was possible to insert the voice of Johnny Ventura in this musical collaboration with his son, which also included audiovisual material where Dominican identity is highlighted, making us feel that we are all the merengue from emblematic places of our country, with the participation of different personalities from public life.
