RTL viewers had to wait a year for a new season of the jungle camp. Now the camp time of 2023 is almost over and the question of who will fly back to Germany as the winner with the crown on his head is becoming more and more present.
The finalists have been known since Saturday evening. Lucas, Djamila and Gigi are still staying in the camp for the last few hours. Jolina and Cosimo have to clear their camp shortly before the grand finale.

Monday January 30th
12:21 a.m: She can’t believe it but Djamila has snatched the jungle crown and is the season 16 winner.
Jungle camp: Djamila wins season 16
12:18 a.m: The moment has come. Who gets the jungle crown and 100,000 euros? Holding hands, Gigi and Djamila wait for the announcement. And won… Djamila!
12:05 a.m.: Now it’s getting really exciting. The moderators go live to the camp and announce who took third place. The bronze medal goes to… Lucas!
Sunday January 29th
11:55 p.m.: And then comes the moment that the three of them have been looking forward to for a long time: after two weeks on a bland diet, the finalists finally get a hearty meal again. While Lucas treats himself to a steak, Djamila devours a portion of spaghetti bolognese and Gigi also gets a portion of pasta. Competition or not: the heirs to the throne share everything as brothers and let the others taste their dishes.
11.45 p.m.: Ultimately, the pop singer can look forward to four stars. Thus he earned a dessert for himself and the other two candidates.
11:38 p.m.: Now it’s about dessert. The main person responsible for this today is Lucas Cordalis. For this, the singer is locked in a coffin for eight minutes, where animal surprises await him. Daniela Katzenberger’s man then has to solve the stars with his tongue alone.
11:24 p.m.: It makes you feel completely different just watching it. Pig’s uterus, goat’s eyes or a cocktail of fermented fish: Gigi gives everything in his test. In the end he eats three main courses for himself and his two comrades-in-arms.
11:10 p.m: But there is no sign of disappointment or anger with Lucas and Gigi. They rebuild the completely dissolved Djamila together.
And then it’s the next turn. Gigi gambles for three main courses, a drink of his choice and a special treat just for him. Highly motivated, the 23-year-old makes his way to Sonja and Jan. But his mood quickly plummets when he finds out that he has to pass an eating test.
The common thing about the exam: Gigi is always given two plates, one with a delicious dish and the other with a specialty from the Australian bush.
10:51 p.m.: Djamila has to face one of her greatest fears: water. Your task is to endure five minutes with your head in a tank of water. This not only fills with water, but also with all kinds of animals. The make-up artist plays for three appetizers, a drink of your choice and a personal goodie for you.
In the first round, things seem to be going well for the pretender to the throne. But then suddenly everything happens very quickly. The 55-year-old panics and pulls the ripcord! A second attempt also fails across the board. So the exam is over and Djamila returns to the camp without a star.
10:39 p.m.: And then it gets serious, because the last exams are coming up. The three finalists have to choose for themselves which challenge they want to take on. They choose between “crass, correct and stable”. The only woman in the league starts things off.
10:32 p.m.: Time to say goodbye. Cosimo and Jolina have to leave the camp and make their way to the Versace Hotel. Although both are disappointed that they have to leave so close to scarce, they are looking forward to one thing in particular: food.
Above all, Cosimo has only one goal. The native Italian, armed with a knife and fork, has just emerged from the jungle and is sitting in the nearest restaurant. After two weeks of detox in the jungle, the reality TV star treats himself to an XXL portion of pasta.
10:26 p.mr: Right at the beginning of the show, the dispute between Gigi and Lucas enters the next round. Much to the chagrin of others. Djamila in particular thinks it’s a pity that the atmosphere at the campfire is depressed.
And even quarrelsome Cosimo and Jolina withdraw after their heated discussion to clarify the situation. It’s done with a handshake. But the two will probably no longer be friends in this life.
10:15 p.m.: “Good evening Germany and good morning Australia!” With these words Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen open the grand finale. For the last time this year, the moderators greet the viewers in front of the screens.
9:03 p.m.: It will start soon! In just under an hour and a half, RTL shows the grand finale of the jungle camp. In advance, Angela Finger-Erben will moderate the countdown show together with Olivia Jones. In the meantime, the two are switching live to Australia to the campers who have already left. When asked who they bestow the crown on, it quickly becomes clear that most are Djamila’s fans. And also Gigi’s name is often mentioned. For Lucas, on the other hand, none of the candidates are strong.
1:39 p.m.: Jolina and Cosimo are out of the jungle camp and back in the Versace Hotel. Here they answer the questions of this editorial team in an exclusive interview. And Cosimo has a lot to tell. Before they moved out together, the two got into each other’s hair again.
In the aftermath, Cosimo now speaks of jealousy in Jolina.
8:37 a.m.: Whirl just before the final! Although Lucas Cordalis has the best chance of taking the throne as one of the three finalists, he has to take a lot of criticism from the viewers. The reason for this is his statement to Djamila. When it comes to deciding on Saturday evening who deserves the crown and who doesn’t, Djamila says about Lucas: “The statement that family honor is preserved is not enough reason for me.”
The self-proclaimed jungle prince had repeatedly emphasized that he wanted to win the crown in memory of his late father, Costa Cordalis. In 2004, the singer was elected the very first king of the jungle. Djamila’s lack of understanding now made Lucas take a stand again on the jungle phone. “Maybe she just lacks the understanding to understand my motivation. She grew up in the home anyway!” is his guess.
In the social networks, the viewers are outraged and Lucas’ jungle companion Peter Klein can only understand this statement to a limited extent. Peter told RTL: “That was very unfortunate. What he meant is that unfortunately she didn’t experience this family life for herself. […] The choice of words was absolutely wrong in this case. But it wasn’t meant that way, I’m 100% sure.”
Saturday January 28th
3:42 p.m .: RTL changes the rules in the jungle camp
The jungle camp now consists of only five prominent hobby campers. But because there are still too many for the finale, RTL now wants to sort out mercilessly. Verena Kerth started the exits. She was the first to have to clear her warehouse, but was then able to look forward to a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Marc Terenzi.
Last but not least, Papis Loveday was kicked out of the show. Gigi, Cosimo, Jolina, Djamila and Lucas remain. And while Lucas Cordalis has already dubbed himself the jungle prince, Cosimo, Jolina and Djamila are becoming more popular with viewers. At least that’s what the social media comments of the last few days suggest.
While everyone still thinks they are safe, RTL announced on Saturday afternoon (January 28): “Tonight two celebrities have to leave the camp – there is only room for three in the final.” it’s two.

It’s a bitter prospect for the stars. After all, they are all in the final sprint for the crown and not to forget, they are getting closer and closer to the prize money of 100,000 euros. This beckons to the person who can prevail against the competition.
Cosimo had already indicated that he could use the money well. He said he is currently in a phase where he is dependent on reality formats to be able to pay his debts.
