TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- EL HERALDO reaffirms its commitment to culture and identity through the XII Unpublished Short Stories Contest Rafael Heliodoro Vallea showcase that seeks to encourage literary production in the country and motivate Hondurans to make correct use of the Spanish language.
The contest, which awards a single prize and a children’s category and celebrates this 2023 its twelfth edition, has managed to bring together more than 400 tales from authors from regions such as Tegucigalpa, El Paraíso, Choluteca, Valle, Olancho, Comayagua and San Pedro Sula, among other.
The two winning stories the two honorable mentions and seven more works, chosen by a jury, are published in a collectible edition inserted in the daily edition of EL HERALDO, within the framework of the Spanish Language Day (April 23).
Bases/ Adult Category
one. The theme is completely free.
2. Both Hondurans and foreigners residing in the country can participate, older than 16 years.
3. Participants must submit a short story, written in Spanish and on a computer, with a maximum length of two pages, Arial size 12 font, 1.5 spacing, 2.5 cm bottom and top margins, and 3.0 cm sides.
Four. The participating story must not be in competition in other contests.
5. Personnel who work in the newspaper EL HERALDO may not participate.
6. Only one work per participant is allowed. If you submit two, one will be chosen at random.
7. The call is open from the date of publication of these bases (Friday, January 20, 2023) and closes the friday march 3 of 2023 at 5:00 in the afternoon.
8. The works will be presented as follows: in a Word document, include the original story, using a pseudonym as a signature, without any other detail that allows the authorship to be identified. In another Word document with the title “Escrow”, include the title of the work, author’s name and pseudonym, place and date of birth, address, telephone number and email. Do not include resume. 9. A single Prize and two honorable mentions will be awarded. The prizes are as follows: Unique prize, medal and scroll of recognition, 15,000 lempiras in cash and bookstore purchase certificate; the two honorable mentions, recognition parchment and bookstore purchase certificate.
10. The winning story, the two mentions and seven other stories will be published in a special edition collectible inserted in the daily edition of EL HERALDO.
eleven. The winning participants do not lose the rights to their work, however, EL HERALDO reserves the right to publication right.
12. The award ceremony will take place at a special event organized by EL HERALDO on Friday April 21, under the Spanish Language Day. The winners will be informed in advance of the place and time of the ceremony.
13. The jury will be made up of three renowned Honduran writers or academics. Participation in this award implies full acceptance of these bases.
