The Comédie-Française shop The Comedie Francaise

Cinema, art, books…Every fortnight Madame Figaro delivers its cultural selection.

The Comédie-Française shop, like a theater museum

Nestled under the arcades at the corner of Place Colette and Rue de Richelieu, open to the peristyle since its renovation, it offers everyone the opportunity to take a part of the Comédie-Française with them. The shelves have a swarm shape because the emblem of Molière’s house is the beehive. Beyond honey, there are heaps of marvels: a collection of seasonal glasses, this year engraved with verses by Molière for the 400e anniversary of the owner’s birth, but also soaps whose pattern is inspired by Harlequin’s costume, covers in bisonne canvas used by upholsterers to cover furniture. Last collaboration dated: Trudon X Comédie-Française. Or four candles stamped with the effigy of Molière which combine Klein blue and vermilion, pink and fuchsia, saffron and sky blue and… white on white. For the record, Molière’s troupe called on the Maison Trudon for its orders of white candles. A whole cabinet of curiosities music by director Martine Villemot.

The nymphs of Monet in life size in a book

Claude Monet ; 58. water lilies, willow reflections, ca. 1917 oil on canvas, 131 x 155 cm in the current stall (132 x 200 originally), W1859,
Paris, Marmottan Monet Museum. SCHOOL

This looks like a book but is more of an experience. 36 leaflets make it possible to reproduce around fifty details of the tables of water lilies at actual size. We know that these landscapes of water, these games of transparency of the funds, of reverberation of the sky on the water, whose central motif is constituted by the water lilies is the great work of Claude Monet. They are one of the sources of abstraction in the XXe century. This book unique written by the art historian Michel Draguet offers an immersion in the basin of the Japanese garden of Giverny, a visual journey to the heart of the work. Masterful.
