Michael Hartl: “I’m afraid of having another stroke”

The pop musicians Marianne (69) and Michael Hartl (73) have been an absolute dream couple since their wedding in 1979 at the latest. They are also a well-rehearsed team professionally and have competed in the Grand Prix of Folk Music in the past, presenting numerous television formats such as the “Superhitparade der Volksmusik” and “Christmas with Marianne and Michael”. On March 10th, the shocking news suddenly followed: Michael suffered a stroke!

The 73-year-old was then rushed to a clinic and operated on. After the operation, Michael was even in a coma for days! A difficult situation – especially for his wife Marianne, who still does not leave her lover’s side. Around two months after the terrible incident, Hartl is now openly revealing how he is doing.

As the folk musician explained to the “Bild” newspaper, he can hardly remember the stroke and the days in an artificial coma. Michael Hartl said: “When I woke up from the coma, I didn’t know where I was at first. I couldn’t formulate any sentences. I just couldn’t do anything anymore.” The 73-year-old continues: “I wanted to ask where Marianne is, but I couldn’t do that. From the area around the clinic, I realized that something bad had happened to me.”

What a horror show! But the brave hit star didn’t give up courage and fought his way back to life. He admitted to “Bild”: “I had to learn to speak and walk again.” How is he today? “My right side is still affected. My stride is a bit more uneven.” At the same time, Michael Hartl revealed that he is struggling with certain concerns: “I’m afraid of having a stroke again. My doctor says that can happen in the first three months afterwards.”
