Marian Robinson, a “first granny” in the White House
Marian Robinson has always stood by her daughter’s side. A complicity such that the latter decided to follow his offspring to the White House when Barack Obama was elected president on January 20, 2009. Michelle Obama’s mother, “first grandmother” of the country, took care of her granddaughters during her eight years spent in the presidential residence. “Often she returns, she drops off the children, we stay there for a while, we discuss, we keep abreast of the events of the day. And then she says to me ‘I’m going home’. And she goes up the stairs”, had confided the former First Lady in the American magazine O in 2009.
