It is true that the vast majority of times the public is not happy with the final results of beauty pageants, once the crown is placed on the new sovereign, disagreements explode on social networks. And the 71st edition of Miss Universe is no exception, since R’Bonney Gabriel was proclaimed Miss Universe Universe 2022, the pageant has been the target of criticism and even branded as fraud.

andreina martinez, Miss Dominican Republic, reached the top 3 taking the position of second finalist -although for many she should have been the winner-. In conversation with the media, she gave her opinion on the alleged fraud.

“The selection committee has criteria, it has guidelines to follow, and I feel that they did what they understood was necessary to have a worthy representative,” Martínez expressed before the press.

“I can’t lie to you, each one of the delegates works so hard, we are inspiring women, their stories really make me feel proud to share with them, and honestly any of us could win,” narrowed.

The Dominican does not believe that an act of fraud has occurred in the contest, and rather shows her support for the winner. “So I think not, everyone made the decision that they understood they had to make, and I am happy with the winner, she is a spectacular woman who has a great platform, so I congratulate her”, concluded.

In an interview with Diario Libre, she acknowledged how calm and happy she was with the second finalist position, especially since her teammates reaffirmed their support until the end.

“When they called me as the second finalist, I was calm, I was aware and happy to have gotten there, and the others told me ‘You are Miss Universe’, then I burst into tears, because I felt the support of all the girls, and I said to myself: ‘I did things well’”. (AND)
