Roman Abramovich’s mega yacht has now been hit by protesters. They are fed up with Putin’s bombing raids in the Ukraine war.
the essentials in brief
- Roman Abramovich’s mega yacht cruises the sea off Turkey.
- There, Ukrainians were now protesting on the water.
David vs Goliath!
A courageous protest action took place yesterday on the Aegean Sea. The mega yacht (530 million francs) from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich (55) is currently sailing there.
His Bermuda-flagged yacht “Solaris” docked in the southern port of Turkey after leaving Montenegro. Abramovich is (still) safe from possible sanctions in the Ukraine war with his assets of an estimated seven billion francs.
A small group of Ukrainians now dared to protest against the Russian oligarchs at sea. They tried to prevent the yacht from docking with a rubber dinghy and a flag that read “No War”.
The “Solaris” was in the port of Montenegro for weeks. The state is not a member of the European Union. The port of Tivat was therefore used by several Russian superyacht owners.
However, Montenegro has now joined EU sanctions against Russia, which could potentially have seized Abramovich’s yacht. Incidentally, there is still no trace of the Russian oligarch.
Abramovich was last photographed at the airport in Tel Aviv, Israel a few weeks ago.
