But an invitation to Oscars 2022 should not have received the 20-year-old, as she now reveals on the Internet.
West Side Story star Rachel Zegler banned from Oscars 2022
It’s her big career break: At just 20 years old, Rachel Zegler was cast as the lead in Steven Spielberg’s new film. As if that weren’t honorable enough, “West Side Story” also received seven nominations for the Oscars 2022 – including in the categories “Best Film” and “Best Camera”.
Rachel Zegler is very close to her dream of becoming a Hollywood star. Even if she didn’t receive a nomination for “Best Actress” herself, it would at least be a milestone to be able to attend the world-famous awards ceremony.
But the Academy sees things differently. Because: Despite her work on the Spielberg masterpiece, Rachel Zegler was not invited to the gala.

Oscars 2022: Rachel Zegler disappointed with the Academy – “I tried everything”
When a fan asked Rachel on Instagram what she would be wearing to the Oscars, the actress replies, “I’m not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel shirt.” Ouch! That hurts.
The fans of the 20-year-olds are shocked and react immediately with numerous comments. “It’s incredible, I hope the Academy makes up for it,” it says, among other things. Another user claims: “This breaks my heart. You were the best part of the movie. Certainly Steven Spielberg could do something about it.”
But no chance. “I’ve tried everything, but it doesn’t seem to work. I’ll be cheering on ‘West Side Story’ from my couch and be proud of the work we did so tirelessly three years ago. I hope that a miracle will happen at the last minute and that I can personally celebrate our film,” Rachel Zegler explains to her followers.
More on the Oscars:
She herself was deeply “disappointed” by the Academy’s decision. Now she has to watch the show like everyone else on TV.
It is particularly sad that she cannot even support her colleague Ariana DeBose, who is nominated for “Best Supporting Actress”, on site.
