The end of Season 4 certainly left a hole in the hearts of most viewers. The astonishment about these red hot “ozark“-News!

“Ozark” is off – but Netflix gives hope for season 5

Back in January 2021, screenwriter Chris Mundy stated that “Ozark” would be wrapped up after the end of season four and ended forever. Netflix is said to have decided against a fifth season, as revealed by Mundy in the “Daily Beast” interview.

As a compromise, the episode count was increased for the fourth season. Instead of the usual ten, there were 14 episodes for the finale – and they really pack a punch.

Several characters die in the last “Ozark” episode – including villain Omar Navarro and audience favorite Ruth Langmore. It is unclear whether the unscrupulous private detective Mel Sattem survived the finale. After Marty’s son Jonah points a gun at him, the screen goes black and a loud shot rings out, at least implying that Jonah shot the former cop.

After a total of four seasons, fans now have to say goodbye to the characters.

But the end of the series doesn’t mean that viewers will never hear or see anything from “Ozark” again. Of course, those responsible at Netflix did not miss the fact that the crime drama series is one of the most popular in the world. That’s why the streaming giant is said to be working on a spin-off.

‘Ozark’ Writer Hints at Sequel in Same Universe

Speaking to TV Line, screenwriter Chris Mundy shares the great news: “There are still ways to stay within the show and revisit things.”

No precise plan has been made yet, but one idea would be to set a new series in the same universe as “Ozark”. It is quite possible that one or the other actor will have a guest appearance. One, however, will definitely not appear again: the murdered Ruth Langmore (played by Julia Garner).

“I’m sure people would have been happier if Ruth had been out there,” stresses Mundy, who knows viewers have fallen in love with the money launderer.

Still, Chris Mundy does hint that Ozark fans can look forward to an exciting sequel: “It’s definitely something that a lot of people are talking about. There is nothing definitive. We’re lucky that viewers seem to really like the series, so obviously there’s going to be some interest in it.”

The sequel to the crime series “You” is already in full swing. The first details about the new season have already leaked out and are causing a lot of trouble for fans of the Netflix production.
