This Wednesday, Pamela Anderson, who will make her debut in the musical “Chicago”, posed for photographers in front of her brand new posters. For the occasion, the 54-year-old actress, radiant and smiling, was alongside the play’s producer, Barry Weissler. For his Broadway debut, the ‘Baywatch’ star will join one of the longest running shows as ‘Chicago’ star Roxie Hart from April 12-June 5 at the Ambassador Theater in New York.
Set in the 1920s, this musical tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to leave her. To avoid being convicted, Roxie hires Chicago’s most criminal lawyer to help her fool the public, the media, and her cellmate and rival, Velma Kelly, by creating shocking headlines.
“I am ready to see what I am capable of”
For the play’s producer, Pamela Anderson is both different and similar to the character. “Pam is a very moral person. She cares about animals, the planet, people. (…) The difference between Pam and Roxie is that she, on the other hand, doesn’t care about anyone but herself, she doesn’t care what’s going on around her, as long as she can become famous. So, it’s true that Pam has a completely opposite mindset, but she fits the role because of her fame, what she’s been through in life,” he told the “Associated Press “.
For her part, the mother of Brandon (25 years old) and Dylan (24 years old), revealed to be totally ready for this role. “From Malibu to Broadway. The unexpected inspires me. That’s it, I won’t hold back anymore. I am letting myself go. I am ready to see what I am capable of. For Chicago, I’m going to show all my cards. I double the bet… on me”.
