Pedro Alfonso began its 11th season last week in Villa Carlos Paz starring in the comedy “A perfect plan”. This summer, he once again shares the stage with his wife, the model and host Paula Chavez. This is the fourth play where both appear on the marquee, something that fills them with emotion because Carlos Paz is a theatrical place that saw them grow as professionals but also as a family.
In Carlos Paz, Pedro Alfonso Y Paula Chavez, they got on stage for the first time. It was in 2012 with the play “Bachelor Party”, at the height of the couple’s media boom. At that time, not many were betting on that romance that was born when he was a producer for Ideas del Sur and the model was already famous. He fell in love with her as soon as he saw her and Marcelo Tinelli became the matchmaker. Every gesture that “Peter” made to conquer Paula was celebrated by thousands of spectators. For this reason, the couple had fans even before confirming their courtship.
That theatrical debut with “Bachelorette Party” was in a small room, with less than 500 seats. But the inexperience of both as actors was not an impediment for the play to be a success in the audience. Hundreds of “Pauliters”, as their followers called themselves, crowded outside the Candilejas 2 theater to take a photo with the most media-produced couple in the country.

The following year, in a larger room, together with the production company Dabope (made up of Chato Prada, Ezequiel Corbo and Federico Hope) they again headlined a comedy. But this time who accompanied them was a consecrated comic actor: Emilio Disi. He became the mentor of Pedro Alfonso and his advice gave stage technique to his natural charisma.
The year 2012 began, and that same summer, Villa Carlos Paz also became the setting for the happiest news for the couple. Paula confirmed that she was pregnant. And so, months later, Olivia arrived. The story is known, a year later they got married and for their second wedding anniversary Baltazar, her second son, was born.
In 2018, they did a season together again. “Locos por Luisa” was the name of the comedy that once again filled the theater every night that summer. By then the works starring Pedro became year after year one of the highest grossing of each season.
Paula Chavez She withdrew from the stage with maternity, but everything was set in 2020 for her triumphant return with “Trapped in the Museum”. At last the duo was going to return to lead their fourth comedy together. But it could not be. One day before taking the marquee photo, the model confirmed that she was pregnant again. Own Pedro Alfonso broke the news on the day of the debut in Carlos Paz, when the role of Paula was already played by Flor Torrente. Months later, Filipa arrived, the youngest of the Alfonso-Chaves clan.

But this 2023 season gave revenge. Now yes, like that debut eleven years ago, Carlos Paz unites them again on stage. The play is called “A perfect plan” and the cast that accompanies them is made up of Pachu Peña, Romina Gaetani, Rodrigo Noya, Camilo Nicolás and Agustina Agazzani.
“Four times we were with Paula in a play. It is less than it seems. And the first two, Bachelor Party and Crazy Trip, our characters were called Pedro and Paula. And now the way we stand on stage has changed a lot. She sees it much better, especially in the last four years that she hasn’t been in our comedies. I think that of these eleven years, the last four were the ones with the greatest growth. For me, Carlos Paz is always a school”, Pedro Alfonso assured MDZ Online.
“Actually, Paula’s return was going to be with Trapped in the Museum, but one day before the marquee she told me about the pregnancy and although it was beautiful news, within the workplace it was mobilizing. And now that Filipa is older, we were able to organize ourselves and we’re back on stage. I would do comedies with her every year because I have a great time. Even though we are together at home all day, I like working with her,” said Pedro.
own Paula Chavez She comments that in the time that she was not on stage, Pedro had a very important artistic growth. He describes him as a “captain” for the casts he leads. One of the pillars for this to be the case was undoubtedly the advice that he knew how to give Emilio Disi at the beginning of his acting career.
The actor who passed away in March 2018, was a mentor to Alfonso. And today, the hall of the Teatro del Lago where Pedro appears every night, bears the name of Disi. “We always keep him very present in the creation of the sketches and the scripts of the works. You would like this joke or not this one. With the producers and with the director, Carlos Olivieri, we always think about what Disi would do in this or that part. Without looking for him, he is always there. He left that halo of fellowship and joy. I try to name all the functions, ”he recalled excitedly.
With the passing of the years, Pedro Alfonso He does not feel the need to show that he is much more than that media figure where he was placed in his beginnings. “Today I am no longer interested. I am much more planted, safe on stage. And I realized over the years that I don’t have to prove something.”
“They are eleven years old and I feel that within comedies I am like a host. Although I play that character who always gets into trouble, I like to think of it as that role of receiving others, so that all the actors shine in his scenes. People already know how I am. And my characters don’t run much from that almost naive and childish anti-hero. I enjoy when I hear the audience suffer while my character becomes entangled in the plot. He is very cute. And another thing that I enjoy is everything that is generated when that function ends. After the works we do a show and people already know it, and they don’t leave. Yesterday, for example, we brought up people from the public to practice the final greeting that is still not so clear. One day we sing, another day we do something else. It’s a very nice moment.”
The question that remains after so many years of that media romance is, do the Pauliters still exist today? “You know that yes,” Pedro admits. “At first there was like a fanaticism but now the genuine has remained. They accompany you a lot, and they are. There is already a relationship with them because we know each other and we even know their names. Although there are many new people coming to see us, the ‘old school’ remains strong. And we already have a relationship of seeing each other on tour or talking to each other through the networks. There is a lot of respect and a lot of love. It is emotional to see that the years go by and they are still at the theater exit, waiting for us with a little gift”.
