Pelé’s daughter shares touching final photo

Pelé died at the age of 82 surrounded by his loved ones. His daughter shares one of the football legend’s final moments.

Pelé’s children stayed awake at his bedside in the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo. Daughters Kely and Flavia and son Edinho posted touching photos and messages from the hospital room. The football legend has experienced the last few days and hours full of love, gratitude and solidarity. Kely Nascimento shared one of these intimate moments on Instagram shortly after her father’s death became known.

“Everything we are we owe to you”

In the picture, ten hands are holding each other and Pelé’s. “We owe everything we are to you, we love you infinitely, rest in peace,” writes Kely. Her brother Edinho posted a black and white photo showing his father from behind entering a football stadium. “Go with God, my dad,” he writes, adding a black heart emoji, among other things.

Grandchildren say goodbye to Pelé

Pelé’s granddaughter Stephany Nascimento shared a video with memories together. “Grandpa, you have fulfilled your task here on earth and you are now in the light! Everything our family is we owe to you. What an honor and happiness to be your granddaughter and wonderful moments with you and ours Having experienced family,” she commented on the clip.

Flavia’s sons Octavio Felinto Neto and Gabriel Arantes also said goodbye to their grandfather in the hospital. After his death, they shared old photos on their social media accounts, writing “rest in peace, grandpa”.

“Now we can only remember the good moments, what Pelé has done for Brazil and for the world, the people he has helped and the achievements he has had in his career and in his life had”, writes his grandson Arthur Spies to a joint photo and adds to Pelé: “Grandpa Dico, you are my idol and always will be […] I love you very much, no matter where you are, I will always take you into my life, in good times and in bad, because I know if you were here, you would support me.”

Pelé was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2021. He had been in the hospital for around four weeks until his death on December 29, 2022. The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein gave the official cause of death as “multiple organ failure secondary to the progression of colon cancer related to his previous illness.” The Brazilian leaves behind seven children and his third wife Márcia Cibele Aoki.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé’s real name, has shaped football like no other. He went down in history as the youngest goalscorer in a World Cup final, scoring twice against the hosts in Sweden in 1958 aged 17 years and 249 days. In his 21-year career he won numerous titles, first and foremost are the three World Cup triumphs in 1958, 1962 and 1970 with the Selecao.
