A petition asks the organizers of the festival to cancel the arrival of the rapper, more and more criticized for his behavior.
Kanye West, headliner of Coachella 2022, will he be ousted from the Californian festival? This is what a change.org petition is asking for, which has already collected 35,000 signatures. The author of the text, entitled “remove Kanye from Coachella!”, evokes the behavior of the rapper to request his deprogramming of the musical event scheduled for the weekends of April 15 and 22.
“It’s been a year since we’ve seen Kanye harass, manipulate and hurt Kim (Kardashian, ed), Pete (Davidson, ed), and others,” the description reads. of the petition. “No one seems to want to stand up to him, and those who do incur his wrath. Lately he has threatened to physically harm others. The fact that he is allowed to do this freely is ridiculous. Coachella (along with other brands that continue to work with him) should be ashamed and stop giving him the opportunity to speak.”
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who have four children together, announced their separation last year. Since then, the behavior of the rapper towards his former wife has regularly been singled out by the media and on social networks. Kanye West multiplies the publications addressed to his ex-wife, sometimes on details concerning their shared custody (he assured that he no longer has the right to see his children, which Kim Kardashian denied in comment), sometimes to share his determination to win her back.
He also went after Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend, through killer captions. In a private exchange with his former wife, which he revealed on Instagram, she accused him of “creating a dangerous and scary environment”: “someone is going to hurt Pete and it will be your fault”, she worried in mid-February. A few weeks later, in the clip EasyKanye West staged himself kidnapping Pete Davidson.
In addition, Kanye West recently used a racist slur on Instagram to label South African host Trevor Noah, who accused him on his show of harassing Kim Kardashian.
Another service canceled
Kanye West was recently the subject of the first sanctions: Instagram suspended his account for 24 hours for violating the application’s anti-harassment policy, and his performance at the Grammy Awards on April 3 was canceled due to his “concerning online behavior”. The other two headliners for the next edition of Coachella, the first since the start of the coronavirus, are Harry Styles and Billie EIlish.
