Several explosions, police sirens and countless fire engines: Bernhard Brink was rudely awakened from his sleep on Thursday. The reason is a major fire in Berlin Grunewald. The hit star now reveals how he experienced the moments shortly after the explosion.
Berlin Grunewald – Fire alarm in the German capital: The trigger was an explosion on Thursday morning at a police detonation site in Grunewald. Several tons of ammunition and confiscated fireworks are stored there. The residents – including Schlager star Bernhard Brink – were torn from their sleep by the loud bang.
“Suddenly there was a bang”: Pop star Bernhard Brink was torn from his sleep by the explosion
“Suddenly there is an incredible bang. And not just once, but 15, 20 times. And I thought, my God, what happened there?” Bernhard Brink said in an RTL interview. The pop singer didn’t see anything, which of course boosted his carousel of thoughts.
“At first you think crazy things. Did a missile from the Russians go wrong somewhere or what. You’re worried, hopefully nothing stupid happened there,” Bernhard Brink describes his thoughts after the explosions. And further: “You’re not in there nowadays, what’s really going on there”.
“Endless sirens”: Bernhard Brink worried that the fire will continue to spread
Bernhard Brink is quite worried about the proximity. “The police and then so violently the fire brigade. You can hear sirens without end. Then of course you think, hopefully it’s not somewhere so close that there’s a fire that can spread,” reveals the pop singer. In the current heat, that could happen quickly.
But now for better news: Bernhard Brink will be back on TV on August 20th. With “Schlager des Sommers” the mood was probably also very relaxed, as Schlager fans show on the Internet. Sources used: RTL, dpa, IMAGO
