Premiere of the Passion Play: celebrity show running in Oberammergau

Following a plague vow from 1633, the place usually shows “the play of the suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ” every ten years. Because of the pandemic, game director Christian Stückl had postponed the passion, which was actually scheduled for 2020, by two years.

During the break, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and the community gave a state reception. Prominent guests from politics, culture and society were invited to the premiere.
