Arrived too late to bid farewell to the queen, Prince Harry would have whispered a few words in her ear all the same.
On September 8, after several hours of rumors and doubts about Queen Elizabeth’s state of health, the world mourned her death. If part of the royal family was able to go to his bedside in time to say goodbye to him, this is not the case for the prince harry who arrived too late.
In his memoirs, entitled “The Substitute”, the brother of the future King of England looks back on this moving moment when he was able to whisper a few words of farewell to his grandmother.

A shocking farewell
Upon his arrival at Balmoral, the prince harry was greeted by Princess Anne who immediately took him to the Queen’s remains. The husband of Meghan Markle explains then that he gently approached the body of the queen before observing her for long minutes, in absolute calm. He then approached her in order to whisper a few words to her: “I walked forward uncertainly, and I saw her. I stood still […] I whispered that I hoped she was happy, and that she was with Grandpa”.
A particularly moving moment for Prince Harry, who was close to his grandmother despite his estrangement from the royal family.
