- For the platinum anniversary, Mattel dedicated a special Barbie to the Queen.
- The doll is very popular and sold out within seconds.
- Now the collector’s item is offered on Ebay – at extreme prices.
A special Barbie has arrived to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. The doll designed in the likeness of the monarch was according to the British newspaper “The Guardian” sold out after three seconds at the John Lewis company. Now the copies are offered on Ebay – and the prices are apparently going through the roof.
One of the Queen Barbies in the store cost the equivalent of around 110 euros. According to the report, most Ebay sellers are now hoping to sell the coveted collector’s item for at least twice as much. As “Independent” reports, the Queen Barbie is even offered there at prices of up to 1,000 pounds (about 1,200 euros). Mattel has confirmed that the limited-edition doll has sold out in the UK, but has hinted that more dolls may be released ahead of the Jubilee celebrations in June.

There are many collectibles for the jubilee
Inspired by one of her most iconic looks, Mattel’s “Queen Elizabeth II Barbie” wears an elegant ivory dress with slightly puffed sleeves and a blue sash decorated with medals, as well as white gloves. Her royal outfit is completed with matching accessories and a crown.
For the Queen’s Jubilee, there are many other memorabilia in addition to the doll to honor the Queen. This includes special porcelain and teddy bears, but tea towels and fridge magnets are also available for royal fans.
The culmination of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations is scheduled for June 2-5. On June 2nd, the traditional military parade “Trooping the Color” takes place for the Queen’s birthday. For this occasion, the royal family is expected on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
A thanksgiving service will follow on June 3rd at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The horse derby at Epsom Downs is planned for June 4th, followed by a platinum party at Buckingham Palace in the evening. The big anniversary dinner is on the program on the last day of the anniversary weekend, June 5th.

45 years ago, the Sex Pistols caused a big scandal and at the same time one of their biggest hits: the punk single “God Save The Queen” was released for the 25th anniversary of the Queen’s throne. Now, for the 70th anniversary of the Queen of England’s throne, the band is putting the old song back on.
