The wife of Felipe VI, King of Spain, has contracted Covid but is only suffering from mild symptoms, the royal household has announced.
Queen Letizia, wife of Felipe VI, tested positive for Covid, suspends her official engagements. If she only suffers from mild symptoms, according to the royal household, she has canceled all her activities for the coming days.
For example, the former journalist was to attend a journalistic awards ceremony on Thursday evening, according to El País, which recalls that Letizia multiplied official appearances last week. In particular, she welcomed, on the sidelines of the NATO summit, which was held in Madrid, the wives of heads of state.
Felipe, positive in February
Last February, it was Felipe who tested positive and had to suspend some of his activities. “His Majesty the King’s general state of health is good and he will continue his institutional activity from his residence,” a statement said at the time. Letizia then managed to escape the Covid, as did the couple’s two daughters, Leonor and Sofia.
As Europe experiences a surge in Covid cases, Spain has kept masks mandatory in public transport and healthcare facilities.
