Sheila Atim and Jack Lowden, rising stars of cinema honored with the 2022 Chopard Trophy

The actors told us about their reaction when they received the prize from Julia Roberts, but also the memory of their first Cannes Film Festival or the films that make them shiver.

“There are a lot of things, a lot of movement.” Sheila Atim and Jack Lowden are a little overwhelmed by the atmosphere of this Cannes Film Festival 2022. It must be said that the winners of the Chopard Trophy 2022, which distinguishes two promising young actors each year, are in great demand. And all the more nervous that they must receive their prize from the hands of Julia Roberts in person, the godmother of the trophy this year.

The two actors still took the time to lend themselves to our game of questions and answers, under the dazzling blue sky of the Croisette. Jack Lowden thus revealed to us that the common thread of all his roles was “a deep disgust with oneself”. “Most of my characters don’t like each other,” he insists, not without a touch of British humor.

The 31-year-old actor made his debut in 2013 on the show Tunnel alongside Clémence Poésy. We could then see him as a Royal Air Force pilot in Dunkirk (2017) by Christopher Nolan; or in the movie Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, during the filming of which he notably made the acquaintance of his companion, the actress Saoirse Ronan.
