the essentials in brief

  • Silvio Berlusconi loves Marta Fascina, who is 53 years his junior.
  • The two married on Saturday in Monza (Italy).
  • Berlusconi recently came under fire because of his closeness to Putin.

All good things come in threes! On Saturday, Italy’s ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (85) married his girlfriend Marta Fascina (32), who was 53 years his junior. They enjoyed themselves at a pompous celebration in the northern Italian city of Monza.

Fascina is a member of parliament for his party Forza Italia. The two have been a couple since 2020. However, the wedding with the blonde was only symbolic and without a wedding, writes the German newspaper “Bild”. Italian media speak of a “wedding without marriage”, i.e. without legal or civil obligations.

Children urged Berlusconi to fake marriage

The reason for this: A marriage would have messed up the inheritance matters. On the other hand, Berlusconi’s children fought back. They also advised him to postpone the ceremony due to the current situation. But Berlusconi would not be dissuaded from his plans.

Around 60 guests were invited to the celebration, including Berlusconi’s brother, four of his five children and party friends. According to “Bild”, the Bunga Bunga politician said in his speech: “I am happy to have the people around me that are particularly important to me on this day.”

Would you have liked to have been invited to the Berlusconi wedding?

Silvio Berlusconi appeared in a blue Armani suit, Marta Fascina appeared all in white. A lunch, the fake wedding in a mini-chapel and a piano concert were on the agenda.

Silvio Berlusconi is Putin’s friend

The pompous celebration in the middle of the Ukraine war was received with mixed feelings in Italy. Especially since Berlusconi is also considered a great friend of Russia’s ruler Vladimir Putin. Putin sees Berlusconi “a bit as his big brother,” the northern Italian once said. “We talk about everything.”

Shortly after the annexation of Crimea, Berlusconi visited the peninsula with the Kremlin boss.

Striking: Berlusconi hasn’t said a single word about it since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This brought a lot of criticism to the former prime minister.
