In August 2021, Simone Ballack lost her beloved son Emilio in an accident. Now she is talking about her feelings.
August 5, 2021 was a black day in the life of entrepreneur Simone (46) and ex-soccer player Michael Ballack (45), who were married to each other from 2008 to 2012. At that time, their son Emilio († 18) died in a quad accident in Portugal. Simone Ballack has been through bad times since then. But she is slowly feeling her way back to life and spoke openly about her feelings with RTL presenter Frauke Ludowig (58).
In the video above, Simone Ballack talks about coping with grief in the BUNTE.de interview.
Simone Ballack talks about dealing with grief
In recent weeks, the feeling has become stronger and stronger to speak out about the tragic event in public. Simone Ballack states this right at the beginning of the interview published on “vip.de”, which she conducted in her house in Bavaria. There are many pieces there that commemorate her son. And that is also important to the entrepreneur, because Emilio is still present in her life.
“I also like to say Emilio, deliberately,” she says. Many other people would not even dare to say the name. There are even people who would cross the street when they see her because they don’t know how to deal with her, reveals the 46-year-old, adding: “Then there are people who deal with it very openly, which is sometimes too much for me.”
Simone Ballack thinks about the accident every day
The entrepreneur now dares to go public again and sometimes enjoys an evening in a restaurant, but the terrible misfortune is always present for her. Every day she would think of the loss, she reveals and adds: “Different every day. But you don’t think about this day so specifically, you just remember this shock a bit.”
The entrepreneur can still remember the terrible days after Emilio’s death well: “Actually, you work like a machine. So you know, you have to work now,” she reports. She immediately flew to Portugal to see her son one last time.
Simone Ballack talks about her emotional life
Even if she appears to be a strong person on the outside, she would be overwhelmed by her feelings at times, the 46-year-old says. “Of course there are days when I don’t want to get up either and I want to stay in bed and cry, but I won’t allow it,” says Simone Ballack.
Simone Ballack is grateful for the time with her son
Despite her tragic loss, the entrepreneur also tries to think of the good times with her son and explains: “Actually, you have to be grateful that you had these 18 years. Other people lose their children very early or as a baby or as a toddler .” Others would not be able to have children at all. “I’m actually grateful for the 18 years,” admits the 46-year-old, who has two other sons together with Michael Ballack and has been married to her childhood friend Andreas Mecky since 2019.
Now she wants to look ahead and has a good reason for it: “Everything else is just not fair either, towards family and friends,” says the 46-year-old, adding: “Because they also want a reasonably happy life lead. And as a mother, I think it’s your responsibility.”
