After more than eight decades of recognized artistic careerthe mother of Cuban brass bands “The Aragon Orchestra”returns to Santo Domingo this coming Saturday June 3 to the La Fiesta Theater at the Hotel Renaissance Jaragua, in a single performance at 9:00 PM, the renowned orchestra promises to offer a great and unforgettable concert with all its hits. They will do so within the framework of their international tour called “Icono Tour”, which is intended to celebrate the two recent Latin GRAMMYs awarded by the group in 2020 and 2021. “El Bodeguero”, “Cachita”, “El Paso de Encarnación” are some of the classics from the octogenarian that will be played at the Teatro La Fiesta.

“Expectations are high, we haven’t visited that land so happy and dear to us for a while, with which we identify a lot and this time will surely not be the exception to enjoy to the fullest and provide you with the best energy on stage”: he comments its director Rafael Lay Bravo.

In 2005, UNESCO declared the Aragon Orchestra as a World Heritage Site. This recognition that honors its more than eight decades of foundation and the relevance of its work in which it maintains its seal incorporating musical elements of current times.

The last visit of the “Charanga Eterna” to Dominican territory was in 2006 where by chance they appeared in the same theater where they will perform next June.

In their concert at the Teatro La Fiesta, they will present their album “Ícono”, the most recent by the emblematic Aragón orchestra. Rafael Lay Jr. explains the record production and how new and established generations of musicians are mixed within the orchestra. ‘Ïcono’ is a celebration of the eight decades of the Cuban group and becomes a temporary dialogue between the sounds that have accompanied it in these 80 years and includes among its songs a version of ‘Contigo’, by the Spanish Joaquín Sabina. There is no shortage in this production of ‘Look to see who’ it is (known as ‘Baila Catalina’); ‘Fuego, candela’, and ‘Quiéreme siempre’, classics in the career of Aragón, this time with new arrangements that give freshness to the material, which also proposes an approach to timba.

Along with all the new songs, the public that attends this June 3rd at the Teatro La Fiesta at the Hotel Renaissance Jaragua, will equally enjoy all his classics.

The event comes to the country under the local production of the renowned BigStarSD entertainment company.
