The protagonists of Forrest Gump, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, they will be young again in the new film of robert zemeckis, herethanks to a new artificial intelligence technology.
“I have always been attracted to technology that helps tell a story,” Zemeckis said in a statement collected by local media.
The project will use hyper-realistic artificial intelligence technology called Methaphysic Live that allows you to create rejuvenation effects live and in real time on the actors’ faces without the need to use special effects.
This will allow the plot of the film to unfold. spans several generations and addresses themes such as love, loss, struggle, hope, and legacy between couples.
“The film simply wouldn’t work without our actors seamlessly transforming into younger versions of themselves,” the director said in the same statement.
The film is based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire. here which talks about the many people who inhabit the same room at different times and over the years.
In addition to bringing together Wright and Hanks in its cast, the film has the participation of the screenwriter Eric Rothwho was also participated in Forrest Gump and who became a creditor of one of the six Oscars that the film received in 1995.
This is not the first time that Zemeckis has experimented with technology in his films, an example of which is Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), in which the director mixed animation with live action, and The Polar Express (2004) in which he used the motion capture technique.
The Methaphysic technology was first introduced on the show America’s Got Talent in 2022 when they presented a photorealistic avatar of Elvis Presley singing on stage.
But the attempt to rejuvenate the actors with various techniques had already been tried before in films such as The Irishman of Martin Scorsese and soon in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
