The US removes Julión Álvarez from the blacklist that linked him to the New Generation Cartel

WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES.-After four years trying to prove his innocence, Julión Álvarez was finally removed from the black list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury, where he was included for his alleged links to drug trafficking.

According to the report from the Treasury Department, Julión would have been a front man for a businessman linked to drug trafficking and who in 2018 was linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), like his promoter.

The authorities also added three of its companies to the list: JCAM EDITORA MUSICAL, SA DE CV, NORYBAN PRODUCTIONS, SA DE CV and TICKET BOLETO, SA DE CV, which also left the list, according to official information from OFAC. .

On the other hand, his promoter Jesús Péres Alvear was accused in 2018 of money laundering and being involved in a prostitution network.

Likewise, he was accused of using the Mexican music industry to support the illicit activities of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and Los Cuinis, accusations that further damaged the image of the artist from Chiapas.

Excited to get off the blacklist

Julión Álvarez, through a press conference, confirmed that he had been excluded from the blacklist and that he is very happy and excited.

“Today we obtain a letter where the name of Julio César Álvarez Montelongo is mentioned, complying with all the requirements to be excluded from the OFAC list, to be able to reactivate my financial activities like any other person or like any other company does on a daily basis. Even with American people and companies.”

With this resolution, the singer can return to all digital platforms, from where he was banned due to the accusations against him.
