Rammstein singer Till Lindemann will not perform at Wacken Open Air 2022. He should make his debut there. There is a statement from the organizers.
the essentials in brief
- Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann was supposed to perform at the Wacken Open Air.
- The singer would have made his debut here in August.
- For several reasons he and others cannot be there.
Till Lindemann (59) does not appear at the Wacken Open Air. The organizers announced this on the festival’s official website. The “combination of the effects of the corona pandemic and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine” have now also reached the festival, according to the statement. “In the last few weeks, many bands, concerts and festivals have had to give up because, for example, logistics have become impossible for them, there was a lack of staff or the sales figures cannot cover the costs in view of inflation.” That’s why the previously announced acts Till Lindemann, Death SS and Angel Witch could not perform as planned this year.
lack of skilled staff
“As is known with the cancellation of other performances at other festivals, the reasons are varied – but mostly there is simply a lack of experienced specialist staff,” it is explained further. Many have migrated to other sectors or companies and the self-employed have filed for bankruptcy. Those who are still there are fully booked for a long time. “Regardless of whether it’s a bus driver, backliner or stagehand, the industry has shed its skin.” However, the organizers do not want to “let themselves be defeated” – “The next announcement of new bands for Wacken Open Air 2022 is currently being finalized”.
The Wacken Open Air will take place this year from August 4th to 6th, 2022. One of the biggest metal festivals in the world invites you to headbang in Schleswig-Holstein again. 75,000 fans are expected. Among others, performances by In Extremo, Judas Priest, Limp Bizkit and Slipknot are planned. Till Lindemann’s appearance was originally planned for “Wacken Wednesday 2021”. After two editions fell victim to the corona pandemic, he should now make his Wacken debut in 2022.
