Guest on the set of Telematin this Tuesday, July 5 on the occasion of her recent appointment as Secretary of State in charge of the Social and Solidarity Economy and Associative Life, Marlène Schiappa shared with Caroline Roux her joy at returning to the government as well as behind the scenes of his return.
Marlène Schiappa is one of the surprises of the redesigned government of Elisabeth Borne. The 39-year-old politician has made a comeback in power this Monday, July 4, as Secretary of State for the Social and Solidarity Economy and Associative Life, after being briefly dismissed from the first government of the Prime Minister. The former Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship was invited on the set of Telematin the day after his appointment, in order to evoke the springs of his reappearance in the political sphere. “A month ago, you were ousted from this government. You were on this set to explain that Minister, it was over. We even imagined you as a columnist on C8. You are before us today, What happened ?” inquired Caroline Roux. “I answered the call of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to return to the government”, soberly replied the interested party, adding that she was “very happy”.
Wanting to know more, the journalist then asked Marlène Schiappa why she had said “yes” to the request of Emmanuel Macron and Élisabeth Borne. “For many reasons. First, we are in a context of feminization of political power. continued the former secretary of state responsible for equality between men and women. You know my commitment on these issues… to be in the government of the first female Prime Minister since Edith Cresson (Elisabeth Borne, Editor’s note)with a woman President of the National Assembly (Yael Braun-Pivet Editor’s note) and a woman president of the majority group (Aurore Berge Editor’s note), I am very happy to join this team and be part of it.“
Marlène Schiappa is all the more delighted to have been chosen for this post as she echoes his commitment to community life. “On the other hand, the subjects that the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister wished to entrust to me, fascinate me. The questions of social and solidarity economy, of associative life… you know that I was president for ten years of networks, voluntary, entrepreneurial, social associations, on several occasions. It’s an ecosystem that I love and therefore I am very happy to find it“, rejoiced the author of many works.
Honored, Marlène Schiappa only hesitated “2 min 30” before accepting the job
If the wife of Cédric Bruguière savors this new post, she however had to give up her current projects to respond to the call of Emmanuel Macron and Élisabeth Borne. “In fact, I was working to start a business on a mission in the field of gender equality. That’s why I left At New York. I talked about it here at Thomas Sotto“, explained Marlène Schiappa. Caroline Roux asked him if this appointment was “A suprise” for her. “Yes, because quite honestly, I was working on other projects. After five years in government, I already found myself very honored to have been a minister in all the governments of Emmanuel Macron’s first five-year term”confided his guest.
To make sure she agrees to come back, Emmanuel Macron called Marlène Schiappa in person one or two days before his appointment. “I had Elisabeth Borne on the phone and then the president. And the Minister of the Interior too. The President and the Prime Minister know before you do. They call people at the last moment to preserve the confidentiality of the government team. I was called in the weekend”, she revealed. And to conclude that she hesitated “about 2 minutes 30, time to talk with (her) husband”, before accepting the offer.
