jungle camp
At the beginning of last year, die-hard jungle fans had to cope with a shock: cult moderator Daniel Hartwich ended his moderation for “I’m a star – get me out of here!” after ten seasons. A replacement was quickly found. Moderator Jan Köppen will be at the side of Sonja Zietlow in the jungle camp from this year’s season.
Hartwich left the jungle moderator for family reasons. So far, his family had accompanied him to the shoot in Australia. But in the meantime his two children have reached school age and can therefore no longer come with him.
The 44-year-old will probably watch this year’s Jungle Camp season from the sofa. But what is Daniel Hartwich doing right now?

Daniel Hartwich has been in front of the RTL cameras since 2008
Of course, the fans of Daniel Hartwich will not have to do without the moderator in the future. After all, the native of Frankfurt has been in front of the camera or the radio microphone for almost his entire life.
Hartwich had his first breakthrough in 2005 with the children’s show “TKKG – The Club of Detectives” on the ZDF Kika channel. After a one-year stint at DMAX, the moderator switched to the RTL broadcaster and even got his own late-night show “Achtung! Hartwich” there at times.

He also moderated “Das Supertalent” on RTL for more than ten years – with Marco Schreyl and Victoria Swarovski, among others. He also had occasional shows such as “Once in a Lifetime – 30 Things a Man Must Do”, “101 Ways Out of the World’s Toughest Show” or the game show “Cash Crash”. Daniel Hartwich also got other shows of his own, such as “H wie Hartwich” or “Hartwichs 100! Daniel tests the Germans”.
Fans can see Daniel Hartwich in four shows so far this year
In addition to moderating the jungle camp, where he originally followed in the footsteps of the late moderator Dirk Bach, Daniel Hartwich always had his hands full. After all, “IBES” only runs a few weeks a year.
For example, he has been in front of the TV cameras for “Let’s Dance” since 2010 – together with Victoria Swarovski since 2018. The singing show “Show us your voice!” was added in 2020. and the game show “Lego Masters”, and last year the quiz show “Ohne Limit”.
Hartwich fans can see the moderator there again this year.
Could Daniel Hartwich also turn his back on “Let’s Dance”?
However, rumors keep circulating that Daniel Hartwich could also stop with “Let’s Dance”. Because about a month ago, juror Motsi Mabuse shared a “Let’s Dance” group video with the words “The team meeting that we love”. In addition to the juror, you can also see her colleagues Joachim Llambi, Victoria Swarovski, Massimo Sinató and Kathrin Menzinger. Only one does not really fit into the group: moderator Jan Köppen. Daniel Hartwich was missing.
That caused a lot of confusion. At least the fans were then informed that this was not a recording for “Let’s Dance”, but for the show “Jauch gegen …”. However, it was not explained why Jan Köppen stood in for Daniel Hartwich, the actual co-moderator alongside Victoria Swarovski. However, it is also clear that Köppen stepped in for Hartwich twice in the dance show last year.
It remains to be seen whether Jan Köppen will replace the 44-year-old on other shows in the future. Privately, however, Daniel Hartwich does not reveal anything – fans also look in the tube on Instagram, the moderator does not have an account here.
Sonja Zietlow belongs to “I’m a star – get me out of here” like the jungle camp to Australia. Even more. Even when the RTL show took place in Germany and South Africa due to the corona, the presenter was dutifully on hand. This year, Jan Köppen is her third man in almost 20 years of jungle moderation, but the 54-year-old will probably do her job with just as much bite as in season one.
